I was in the army and I received orders to report to camp McCoy. This was round March of 1968. I don't remember the date I met Dee but I remember the day I first met her. I was a military policeman and we had times when we had to go to the town of Sparta. Dee lived just outside Sparta in Angelo. I was driving with another M.P. and there was this girl walking beside the road. He had met her before so we stopped and he introduced us. She smiled and said hi. This was Dee Dee. We would see each other mostly at the Lanes when she was with friends and I was with guys from camp. The Lanes was in the basement of the bowling alley. They would have bands on weekends and sometimes we would all go swimming at the lake and have a picnic. We would all have a good time and Dee and I became friends. The summer went real quick. When I left Dee wrote me a letter telling me she loved me. When I got my discharge another M.P. was driving back to Sparta so I rode with him. We arrived in Sparta about 1:00 a.m. and Dee was waiting at the country kitchen for me with his girlfriend. I spent a few days and I had to go home and Dee and I talked on the phone I realized that I loved Dee. Right after Christmas I went back to Sparta. Dee's family made a place in their home for me and made me feel at home. Her dad drove me around to find a job. I could never thank them enough for that. Her brothers and sisters made me feel like on of them, but the best thing that happened was I found my wife and best friend. She was and is the love of my life. She always put everyone before herself. She was very proud of our children and grandchildren and they were very proud of her. I MISS YOU AND I LOVE YOU
